New Orleans Mayor
I usually try not to be too outwardly political. Mainly I don’t want to force my opinions on others. That feeling changed almost 4 years ago when I was in San Francisco for my grandmother’s 95th birthday. It was the night of the New Orleans mayoral election. I had absentee voted the week before, but I was interested in the results because the new mayor would shape the recovery of the city. When I discovered that Nagin had won, I was disgusted with all of humanity. After 4 years of terrible government, it’s not hard to understand why I felt this.
So while this is not what I usually do, I’m determined to get the right mayor for our city this time around. I’ve done my research, and as you’ll probably see all over TV tomorrow, I’ve decided who is the best candidate for the job.
I fully understand that my “endorsement” means almost nothing, but I am fully in support of Leslie Jacobs for mayor of New Orleans. She is the only candidate with both the business and government experience required for this job. She is the only candidate with a proven record in education (created our current charter school climate). She is the only one who has worked extensively to retain the bright young people who have flocked to the city (with 504ward). She is the only candidate that has the ability to demand results and make our city truly great. I’m going to make sure the city wakes up enough to realize that we deserve to be great.

So my website completely broke for a number of weeks. I’m honestly not exactly sure what went wrong with it, but I’m fairly certain that Dreamhost had a hand in it. I’ve done my best thus far to try to recreate the site, but there are some lingering problems such as categories and text encodings. I’ll fix it as I go along.
I guess I finally feel like I have more to contribute and so I have spent this time getting my blog back up. I know there will be more soon…
